CHALLENGER LITTLE LEAGUE 2012 www.MolineChallengerLeague.com It’s time to play baseball again!! The Challenger League will be in action again this spring, and we would like to invite your player to come and play baseball. The Challenger Division is Little League’s way of providing individuals with disabilities an opportunity to play baseball. This division enables every person the chance to participate in a structured athletic program, regardless of their age and/or ability. NEW LOCATION!! Starting this year we will be playing on the Moline Little League fields located at the west end of Riverside Park, 2700 5th Ave., in Moline. These fields are handicapped accessible, near restroom facilities, AND near the concession stand! Moline Little League families will be staffing the concession stand during our games, including grilled sandwiches. Also, each player will get a free glass of pop, juice, or water which eliminates the need for OUR families to provide this for our players!NEW THIS YEAR – You may register your player at the Moline Little League Registration being held Saturday February 4th from 9am-3pm or Saturday February 11th from 9am-1pm. This registration is held at K-Mart in Moline, 51st St. and Avenue of the Cities. Registration forms will be there. EVERY person must have this form filled out and returned along with the registration fee. If your player isn’t registered on these dates, we will mail/email the forms to you. Games are usually about 1 to 1-1/2 hours long, and everyone gets to hit the ball and play in the field with their team. Parents are responsible for bringing their player to and from the games, and possibly helping while the players are on the field or waiting in the “dugout”. April 29, May 6, 13 (Picture Day), and 20 (Picture Rain Date), and June 3, 10, 17, 24 are the dates for our 2012 season. (The end of season picnic will take place after the last game, time and place to be announced). All games will be played on Sundays, at 1:00 – 2:00, 2:15 – 3:15, and 3:30 – 4:30 with the exception of June 10th. Games this day will start later in the day, into the evening – TIME TO BE DETERMINED, to accommodate game commitments of Moline Little League. If your player uses a glove, they can bring that with them to the game (please make sure their name is on the glove). Other equipment will be provided by the league. (Equipment will also be able to be stored, safe and secure, on-site.) April 29th will be our Opening Day and first day of games. We ask that players arrive 30-minutes before their game for uniform hand-out. Our 4th Annual Great River Challenge is set for Saturday, September 22nd!! Our Challenger League plays with the Davenport Challenger League at Modern Woodmen Park. We will need to know by June 24th which/how many of our players will be able to attend so we can assign teams, order t-shirts, etc. This is a GREAT opportunity for our players AND spectators! If weather causes us to cancel some games, there is a possibility of some makeup dates. Players who have been in the league before will be on the same team unless a change is requested. New players will be placed on a team, and you will be notified before the season starts. If you have any questions, you may call Pam Swim 3O9-786-3O97 or Jan Garlock 3O9-78I-822I, or your child’s coach. Please return the registration form by March 31, 2012. We need registration forms as soon as possible so we can order shirts and caps, and organize teams. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing your player at our “new” ball park! |
